Who should build it?
All contracts for the AmRev should go to US companies with written guarantees that all of the car's components will be manufactured in this country. Though ultimately the technology and reduced oil demand will benefit the entire world, this is an American project paid for by Amercian tax dollars intended to boost the American economy and provide jobs for Americans. At the same time, it starts us down the road to energy independence, lowers CO2 emissions that are contributing to global warming, and begins the process of de-funding international terrorists. Once the design has been finalized, the task of producing the AmRev should be distributed among the major US automakers and also among any upstart companies who wish to participate. The AmRev should not be seen as unfair competition for those new companies who are pioneering the industry. The demand for Future Fuel vehicles will far outweigh the supply that all automakers will be able to provide in the early years. The benefit for these new companies is that they will be able to take advantage of the resulting technologies, as well as enjoying lower component prices due to the mass production effect. |
